Raku Care and SafetyCaring for your Raku PotteryRaku is a low fire process, and the pottery is porous and will not hold water. Raku should not be placed outdoors in the rain and weather, especially in the winter when alternating freezing and thawing temperatures may cause it to crack.
Metallic glazes used on Raku pottery may fade if exposed to prolonged sunlight. These glazes have been "fixed" with a clear acryllic coating and should be fine if placed indoors out of prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light. Raku SafetyRaku pottery is not food safe. Raku is meant for decorative purposes only. Please do not use Raku pottery for drinking or eating.
